The Mathematics Group at Aston University is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic postdoctoral research assistant to work on the cross-disciplinary and EPSRC-funded research project “Investigating population dynamics of Drosophila melanogaster infection with Mycobacterium marinum as a replacement for the macrophage model of tuberculosis infection”. 

Aston Multidisciplinary Research for Antimicrobial Resistance, the AMR4AMR project, is generating an active and vibrant research environment at Aston University that brings together researchers to focus holistically on the problem of antimicrobial drug resistance to find new and innovative solutions. 

The ideal candidate should be able to analyse experimental data and interpret the results of own research and generate original ideas based on the outcomes, as well as havingin mathematical modelling of biological systems. In addition good computational, organisational and team-working skills are required. 

Furthermore, we are looking for an individual who is able to communicate results effectively to the relevant scientific community in spoken and written media. It is expected that the appointee contributes to the research environment of the Non-linearity and Complexity Research Groupand the Institute of System Analytics of the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Experience in collaborative and cross-disciplinary projects is desirable.

The appointee must also be holder of a PhD in Mathematics, Biology, Physics or a related degree.
