Lecturer Fixed Term in Psychology

Applications are invited for the a fixed-term appointment as Lecturer (Below the Bar) in Psychology in the School of Psychology at NUI Galway. Applicants should possess a PhD in psychology and have relevant third-level teaching experience. Applicants must also be active in research, and possess a strong peer-reviewed publication record, and evidence of successful grant applications. The successful applicant will also have expertise in one or more mainstream areas of psychology complementary to the needs of the School. Preference may be given to applicants who have expertise in the following areas: Lifespan Development, Developmental Neuroscience.

The successful applicant will maintain active involvement in research and will have previous experience supervising research at third level. S/he will contribute to academic administration and the School’s involvement in teaching, research, and/or professional activities of relevance to the wider community. The post holder will be expected to engage in undergraduate and postgraduate research supervision.

The School of Psychology at NUI Galway has a reputation for teaching and research excellence with approximately 1000 students enrolled on undergraduate degrees and higher diploma Programmes. MSc programmes are provided in Health Psychology, Applied Behavioural Analysis and Clinical Neuroscience. The School offers a range of structured PhD programmes and two professional doctorate (DPsychSc) programmes in Clinical Psychology.

Salary:  At Lecturer Below the Bar level

€37,230 to €57,782 pro rata p.a.(applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)

(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Fixed Term scale in line with current Government pay policy)
