Queen's University Belfast - School of Nursing and Midwifery

The School of Nursing and Midwifery conducts world class research leading to improvements in health and well-being in partnership with health professionals, leading charities, patients and carers. Research in the School is focused on two key health care areas: Maternal and Child Health and Supportive and Palliative Care that link us to University-wide collaborative research initiatives and international partnerships with researchers across the globe.

To undertake research in line with the School’s research strategy in chronic illness and palliative care – securing significant grant income and producing high quality peer reviewed academic outputs. To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to contribute to School’s administration/outreach activity. This position is tenable for initially five years at the end of which it will be reviewed with the possibility of being made permanent.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A first degree in health related discipline
  • PhD completed in Nursing or Psychology.
  • Recognised excellence and reputation in cardiovascular care.
  • Experience developing psychosocial interventions for people with cardiovascular conditions or other chronic illness and/or their carers.
  • Sustained record of substantial grant income
  • Sustained publication record in high quality peer reviewed journals that are REF returnable.
  • Invited presentations at international level.
  • Successful PhD supervision normally as Primary Supervisor.
