The University of Auckland seeks to appoint a dynamic researcher and educator as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science in the School of Environment (ENV), Faculty of Science. 

Environmental Science in the School of Environment is a small but highly productive group, and as a discipline Environmental Science at the University of Auckland was ranked in the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings. Academics in this field contribute to a vibrant teaching programme. The Environmental Science group's research and teaching strengths include terrestrial and aquatic ecology, hydrology, air pollution, climate and environmental change. The School of Environment seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to further develop the School’s research and teaching in Environmental Science. The School seeks applications from exceptional candidates and is interested in candidates whose research interests are at the cutting edge of environmental and societal issues related to terrestrial and/or aquatic response to stressors and solutions to such problems. A willingness to collaborate with a wide range of researchers in the School and elsewhere in the University is essential.

Applicants will possess a PhD in Environmental Science or related discipline and a record of research and scholarship as demonstrated through publications in top-ranked journals and success in attracting research funding. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong research programme in the area of Environmental Science, establish new research collaborations within the university and with external agencies and attract external research income. The candidate will also be expected to take an active role in research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Environmental Science, and build a cohort of postgraduate research students.

The School of Environment includes academics from a wide range of backgrounds including earth science, ecology, physical and human geography, geology, environmental science and environmental management. Staff in the School are prominent in a range of national and international research programmes involving collaborators in universities, government research institutes and industry.
