Chair in Management x 4

University of York – The York Management School

As part of significant further investment we are seeking to appoint to a number of new positions. This follows from our successful appointment of three new interdisciplinary Chairs earlier this year, and comes ahead of the School's move to a new building at the heart of our campus in 2019. For further details on the School and these roles please see.

We are interested in hearing from internationally leading academics who are driven by an interest in interdisciplinary work – both within Management and with other departments. We seek all our senior colleagues to bring with them strong academic leadership, citizenship, and a desire to nurture and mentor early career colleagues, as well as a passion for teaching. There are no restrictions on the substantive areas of research, or particular subject background. However it is envisaged that your academic activity will complement the interdisciplinary themes that are developing within the School:

Management and Culture
Sustainable and Ethical Management
Risk and Decision Making

In return we will provide you with an environment that nurtures and encourages creative thinking, supported not only by collegiate colleagues within the School, but through University wide initiatives such as our University Research Champions and the Research Centre for Social Sciences.

Key Requirements

  • PhD in any area of Management, or closely related subject.
  • An outstanding and internationally recognised knowledge of relevant subject area(s).
  • Ability to define, lead, manage and attract funds for internationally excellent research, operating across disciplinary boundaries.
  • Evidence of international collaboration and of peer review activities.
  • Attraction and effective supervision of postgraduate students.
  • Invited presentations at major international conferences.
  • Effective and sustained involvement in major administrative tasks or positions.
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills.
