Slade School Manager (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and skilled administrator and manager with particular responsibility for finance and HR duties, committee servicing, the administration of research grants and the administration of the Slade Summer School and continuing education programme, plus a range of other duties. The successful applicant will manage a team of administrative staff and work closely with the Slade Director, the Academic Manager and senior academic staff.

The appointment is for a fixed term to cover maternity leave and will run from 4 December 2017 to 14 December 2018.

The Slade School of Fine Art is a department of University College London, under the direction of Susan Collins, Slade Professor and Director. An art school with a leading reputation, at the Slade we approach the practice of contemporary art and the histories and theories that inform it in an experimental, research-orientated and imaginative way.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or hold equivalent experience in a similar role, be highly literate and numerate, self-motivated, positive and able to work successfully across a range of projects. The workload will be varied and demanding and the successful candidate will need to have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and proven administrative experience of areas of responsibility in a HE environment, as well as experience of financial planning and budgetary control. The candidate will be able to prioritise tasks and use initiative, having effective leadership and management skills, as well as a commitment to working collaboratively as a member of a team. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
