Applicants are invited for a Research Associate position at the Cardiff School of Engineering. The aim of the post is to undertake research to investigate the effects of low-inertia and low short-circuit level in a HVDC-rich AC grid driven by power electronics converters. The hardware-in-loop (HIL) platform at the Cardiff University, which consists of a HVDC grid test rig, a real time digital simulator (RTDS) and a power amplifier will be used in the modelling and testing of AC grids and VSC control for improving the AC system stability subject to AC and DC faults. Interviews will take place as soon as possible following the closing date.
 
This is a full time position on a fixed term until 30th April 2018.
