UCL Qatar is an academic centre located in the Qatar Foundation’s Education City, Doha, Qatar. It delivers two Master level degrees and a doctoral programme with a cultural heritage focus. The courses prepare students for a wide range of professional employment in Qatar, the region and internationally.

In this generalist post, you will provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on all HR matters. In doing so you will need to build and develop effective working relationships with managers which will allow you to influence, develop and support managers to help them achieve their own, team and organisational objectives. You will also deputise for the Director of HR as required.

Key responsibilities will include supporting the Director of HR in delivering the HR Strategy, providing managers and staff with advice and guidance on all UCL Qatar HR policies, terms and conditions of employment and other HR issues in accordance with employment legislation; being the first point of contact in advising managers on employee relations casework and change management as well as leading on recruitment, employment contract, payroll and casework administration. 

This position is expected to be offered for 12 months in the first instance (including as a possible secondment opportunity) whilst the current post holder covers the post of Director of HR (who will be taking a period of maternity leave).

You will be a proficient CIPD qualified HR generalist, educated to undergraduate degree level and have substantial experience of providing high quality support and advice to managers and staff on HR policy, procedure, terms and conditions and good HR practice.  A postgraduate degree in HR as well as up to date knowledge and understanding of recent developments in Qatari and UK employment law are desirable.

You will have a good understanding of the principles of effective employee relations with the ability to consider suitable options and to seek pragmatic solutions. This is a busy and varied role which will require strong organisational skills managing a fluctuating and wide-ranging workload and the ability to prioritise in the face of competing deadlines.

You will be proven problem solver, with a focus on customer service, excellent written and oral communication skills and have the ability to use your own initiative to meet service standards, work with limited supervision and within a team.
