Executive Assistant

FHI is excited to invite applications for a full-time Executive Assistant to Professor Nick Bostrom, Director of the Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) at the University of Oxford. The post is fixed-term for 10 months from the date of appointment.

The job holder will be responsible for providing support to Professor Nick Bostrom by managing the Director’s busy schedule, ensuring smooth running of his day, and maintaining an accurate record of his activities. They will be expected to conserve the Director’s time by handling correspondence, collecting and analysing information as required, providing administrative support on travel and financial matters, and maintaining effective working relationships with varied stakeholders (such as media personnel, university offices, event organizers etc.) on behalf of the Director. 

The role will be line managed by the Administrator of FHI and will be expected to work closely with all members of the administrative team to ensure smooth functioning of the complex and dynamic work environment.

The ideal candidate will have an ability to learn quickly, assimilate complex information, and undertake multiple tasks simultaneously and under pressure. The candidate should have excellent writing skills, internet skills, effective communication skills, and should display evidence of tact and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters. Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills are especially important in this role.
