Senior Teaching Fellow

The main purpose of this role is the teaching and assessment of core Computer Science subjects, with a strong emphasis on developing and delivering innovative teaching strategies.

Duties include organising and running modules for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, managing assessment and feedback, student admissions and holding tutorials. A Senior Teaching Fellow is expected to have significant experience in teaching and learning, to have demonstrated leadership in curriculum design and administration, to have had active participation with cross-departmental or cross-disciplinary networks, to be able to independently develop new teaching initiatives, and to have or to develop their own scholarship in the area of teaching research. Furthermore, a core component of the role is extensive interaction with a wide range of partners to set up and run student projects, requiring strong negotiating and management skills and experience of the full student project management cycle.

The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum and associated administrative tasks.

A Senior Teaching Fellow is expected to have significant experience in teaching and learning, to have demonstrated leadership in curriculum design and administration, to have had active participation with cross-departmental or cross-disciplinary networks, to be able to independently develop new teaching initiatives, and to have or to develop their own scholarship in the area of teaching research.

The post-holder should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related area, and be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding across a range of core computer science subjects including programming and software development, security, machine learning, software engineering, theory, compilers, graphics and computer architecture. The post-holder would be expected to be able to teach modules on years one to three of the undergraduate programmes, and on several MSc programmes.
