We are looking for a highly motivated person to work as Research Associate on the development of Methodologies and tools for Analytics of Big Data and Data Exploration, in the European Commision project SETA (setamobility.eu). You will participate and support Professor Ciravegna and Dr Lanfranchi in SETA Workpackage 5 “Large scale Visual Analytics and Decision Making for Mobility in MetropolitanAreas” which aims to provide decision support to all the SETA stakeholders (local authorities, citizens, communities) via large scale visual analytics and dedicated services in order to effectively address mobility issues in urban areas.

You will have a PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, a high level of literacy and numeracy and excellent programming and testing skills in different languages (e.g. Java, Javascript, etc.) You will also have excellent experience in data analytics and visualisation.

You will focus on two main areas of research The first will concern the development of Methodologies and tools for Analytics of Big Data and Data Exploration. Focus will be on defining methodologies and technologies for analysing, filtering and visualise distributed, high variety, high velocity and high volume data. The analytics methodologies will aim at building a picture of the relationships within the data, through intuitive exploration along each facet of interest, and by tracing the links between facets. The second area will concern planning and execution of evaluation of the technologies, using qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.
