Line of Management: Consultant and Scientific Advisor

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days, plus statutory bank holidays

Job Overview:

We have an immediate opening for a Junior Consultant with good knowledge of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics or biopharmaceutics. The candidate should have familiarity with in vitro-in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE) approaches and physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling. Experience working in drug discovery/development within the Pharmaceutical Industry is desirable.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team which provides consultancy services centred on the application of PBPK modelling. The successful candidate will undertake a range of duties, including the collation, interpretation and analysis of data from a range of sources. The successful candidate will also be expected to become familiar with the Simcyp Simulator in order to develop skills and experience in the application of PBPK modelling. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, good oral and written communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with external clients. The post does not include routine laboratory or clinical work.

Requirements:

Essential

  • BSc (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field with significant practical experience.
  • Knowledge of in vitro assays used in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic and/or biopharmaceutical studies and their application in IVIVE approaches.
  • Knowledge of PK/PD properties of small and/or large molecules
  • Demonstrable communication skills, as evident by presentation at scientific meetings, and good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Desirable

  • Some understanding of modelling and simulation principles of physiological and biological systems and parameter estimation techniques.
  • Experience in prediction of drug-drug interactions.
  • Awareness of R&D process in pharmaceutical companies.
