Research Fellow

University of Birmingham - Department of Mechanical Engineering

Applications are invited for a position of postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Birmingham on a novel engine development project funded by the Innovate UK. The post is for 24 months and extension is subject to availability of further funding. Essential skills and experience required for the post holder will include: 1) Excellent planning and project management, good communication skills and a good team player; 2) CFD knowledge of engine performance simulation, 3) Component design skills including basic FEA, 4) Engine testing and performance and emission measurements. Desirable experience will include: 1) 3D CFD modelling of engine; 2)  Engine design optimization; 3) Engine calibration; 4) Emissions systems development; 5) Expertise in critical combustion related systems. The applicant is expected to have a PHD in combustion engines or closely related subjects.
