This post is suitable for you if you are wishing to develop a career in Academic Medicine, either in the field of cardiology or oncology.

You will have an exciting opportunity to gain research experience and join a vibrant multidisciplinary team working within an internationally-leading early phase cancer trials unit and associated laboratory research facilities. You will have the opportunity to continue to develop your clinical skills through taking part in oncology or cardio-oncology clinics, and contributing to planning and execution of clinical trials.

You will have a medical degree and completion of general professional medical training (such as MRCP) and relevant experience in a specialty (oncology or cardiology).

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to take an active role in determining the future direction of research projects, have excellent time management and problem solving skills, and demonstrate strong potential to develop a future clinical academic career.

The post is funded by Cancer Research UK and the project will involve working with both oncologists and cardiologists on translational samples from an on-going cardio-toxicity breast cancer study, as well as the opportunity to develop and set up trials in other cancer site areas, and also undertake correlative laboratory research with cardio-toxicity preclinical models.

This post is available immediately and tenable for 36 months and will lead to the award of a research doctorate.
