Public Engagement Manager

Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic individual for the new post of Public Engagement Manager (PEM) for the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science (LRCFS) The successful candidate will lead the development of an innovative public engagement programme of national standing. In doing so they will play a key role in establishing the profile of the LRCFS (dundee.ac.uk/leverhulme) with a range of vital audiences including the public at large. Through imaginative and disruptive use of a range of communication channels and tools the post holder will help the LRCFS establish a public identity to best meet its core mission of delivering better justice globally.

Achieving this will require the post-holder to work with a wide range of academic backgrounds and to develop exciting partnerships with complementary organisations of national and global reputation. LRCFS is an ambitious organisation focused on excellence in research and profound public impact. Our work in public engagement should be limited only by your imagination.

The post holder will lead colleagues in establishing a Communications and Public Engagement Strategy (CPES) along with an implementation plan for which they will be subsequently responsible for delivering against.

Principle responsibilities include

  • Develop a detailed implementation plan for the CPES with clear milestones and deliverables.
  • Research, propose and deliver strategic and creative partnerships with thee private and cultural sectors.
  • Work alongside topic project teams to best engage stakeholders and the wider public in their work, including citizen science approaches to research, and to disseminate the outputs of the research to create wider impact.
  • Implementation of a social media strategy layered within the broader CPES as the principal owner of an appropriate range of social media channels.
  • Work with a wide variety of end users and stakeholders to promote the LRCFS agenda.
