Lecturer in Security & Crime Science

Applications are invited for a Lecturer post to contribute to the Department’s developing programme of research and teaching in security and crime science. The appointees will be expected to undertake high quality research within their own specialist field which will contribute to the research standing and culture of the Department.

The appointment will contribute particularly to the development of and teaching on our new BSc in Security and Crime Science. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of lectures/seminars for courses on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes depending upon the particular expertise of the post holder. The ideal candidate will also develop new courses as appropriate and supervise PhD students.

This post is open-ended.

Candidates must have a proven track record of high quality publications and a demonstrated ability to win grant funding. Experience of conducting research which feeds into professional practice and policy-making will be an advantage.

The successful candidates will have a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant social, physical or life science, (e.g. architecture, computer science, criminology, economics, engineering, forensic sciences, geography, mathematics, political science and psychology.

For appointment at Grade 8, candidates will be expected to have significant successful experience of teaching at a university level, and a significant track record in acquiring research funding.
