Lecturer in Digital Art and Technology

The School of Engineering and Digital Arts is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to undertake research and teaching in the broad area of digital arts and technology, including but not limited to virtual/augmented reality, games, 3D animation, visual effects, interaction design, and to participate in the administration of our digital arts & technology programmes.

You will have a strong international research record, demonstrated by a track record of high-quality publications in relevant conferences and journals and the ability to teach students at different levels, and a commitment to developing student potential are also necessary.

As a Lecturer you will be affiliated to the Intelligent Interactions Research Group with expertise in computer vision, machine learning and pattern recognition, human computer interaction, ubiquitous computing and digital arts. It hosts 10 academic staff and over 35 PhD students.

As a Lecturer in Digital Arts and Technology you will:

  • Teach and convene modules in digital arts and technology, and to contribute to curriculum development in this area.
  • Conduct research at an international level and meet the research activity targets set for each individual member of staff.
  • Make an effective contribution to administrative roles as designated by the Head of School or their nominated representative.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • A PhD in the relevant area or equivalent industrial experience and expert knowledge in the digital arts and technology, e.g. virtual reality/augmented reality, 3D animation, visual effects, gaming, interaction design or other relevant areas.
  • A strong, recent track record of high-quality research publications and/or other forms of research output in appropriate areas.
  • A familiarity with either VR/AR software/hardware, 3D animation or post-production software and the ability to teach at various levels and for different student groups (undergraduate and postgraduate).
