Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemical Biology

Grade 7: Salary in the range £31,604 - £35,550 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Hagan Bayley on a research project funded by OxsyBio for a period of 12 months. The project involves work on synthetic tissues. The work will require experience of molecular biophysics and /or skills in biochemical and molecular biological techniques. Experience in micro fluids and/or 3D printing would be helpful. You should be able to adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols, collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters.

The role will include work in molecular biophysics, and/or skills in biochemical and molecular biological techniques. You should be able to test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You should be able to represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone.

You should have a PhD in biochemistry, chemistry or physics or a related area (or have submitted a PhD thesis prior to taking up the appointment). The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.
