Postdoctoral Research Associate in Chemical Biology

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Hagan Bayley on a research project funded by OxsyBio for a period of 12 months.

The project involves single-channel recording from pores, channels and transporters. You should be able to carry out original research on membrane pores, channels and transporters. 

You should have experience in molecular biophysics, preferably single –channel electrical recording, including the assembly and maintenance of equipment, and the development and application of software for data analysis. You should have an excellent general knowledge of related areas through reading of the literature, online database searching, and attendance at seminars and conferences.  You should be able to test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You should be able to represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone. The work also involves small scale project management and the ability to meet deadlines.

You should have a PhD in biochemistry, chemistry or physics or a related area (or have submitted a PhD thesis prior to taking up the appointment).

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.
