Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to join Professor Carare’s clinical neuroanatomy research group to study the pathology and mechanisms of immunization in neurodegenerative diseases.

You will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and laboratory experience in immunocytochemistry. Previous experience in neuroimmunology or neurosciences would be an advantage. You should be a highly motivated candidate, capable of independently designing and carrying out experiments as well as intellectually contributing to the project to achieve its goals in a timely manner. Evidence of publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals would be desirable.

The Carare group investigates the cerebrovascular biology, in particular the role of the blood vessels in lymphatic drainage of the brain, with relevance to Alzheimer’s disease. Recently, through partnerships with United Neuroscience ( , the group has started investigating new vaccines and novel therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases.Hence this exciting project offers the opportunity to work at the interphase of cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research. You will join a vibrant and dynamic research group and be expected to work as a team with other postdocs, PhD/undergraduate students and technicians. You will collaborate in an interdisciplinary manner with colleagues across Faculties in the University of Southampton. The candidate can expect a collegial and research-focused environment with mentoring and career development support.

The post is available for a period of 2 years, with a possibility of extension depending on results. Due to funding requirements the post can only be offered on a full-time basis.
