The Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a full-time fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in Comparative Politics from 2 April 2018 until 31 December 2022 to provide cover for Professor Elias Dinas, who is on secondment to the European University Institute.

The appointee will provide teaching and supervision for the Department of Politics and International Relations at the undergraduate and graduate level, while contributing to the Departmental examining and admissions processes and undertaking independent research in Comparative Politics. The successful candidate will also provide tutorial teaching and pastoral support to Politics undergraduates at Brasenose College, and will contribute to undergraduate and graduate college admissions.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil by January 2018 and will be expected to have expertise in quantitative research methods and be able to teach advanced quantitative methods at postgraduate level. A regional specialism in Western Europe would also be desirable. The ability to provide excellent class and tutorial teaching, and to advise postgraduate students in their research projects, is essential. You will be committed to the full range of academic duties, including engaging in assessment, alongside the progression of your own professional development.

You will have a strong record of independent research and publication in highly-ranked, peer-reviewed journals or major presses. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational skills are required for this role, along with a demonstrated willingness to contribute to the pastoral care of students.
