Postdoctoral Research Fellow (3 year contract)

We have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow which provides an exciting opportunity to work across a number of EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) Food projects as part of the University of Reading’s new Institute of Food, Nutrition and Health. EIT Food is a unique partnership of over 50 leading companies, universities, and scientific partners covering the entire food value chain who are working together to transform the way in which we produce, distribute and consume food throughout Europe to improve consumer confidence and health.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigators, the appointee will develop and deliver projects within EIT Food’s Communication and Education strands. Your role will be to build productive and effective working relationships with academic, administrative, business and research colleagues within the University and with other EIT Food partners, as well as to support the preparation and development of new projects.

The School of Agriculture, Policy and Development at Reading, of which this post holder would be a member of staff, is global in its outlook and has an international reputation for both education and research. It was recently ranked 10th in the World QS subject rankings for Agriculture and Forestry. Within the University of Reading, SAPD has strong research links with the School of Biological Sciences, Geography & Environmental Science, and Food and Nutritional Sciences and has an established reputation for inter-disciplinary research.

You will have:

  • A PhD in a relevant field (this could include, for example, consumer science, applied psychology, food science, agriculture) and a strong interest in the food industry.
  • Ability to measure project performance and provide regular project updates.
  • Ability to assess, interpret and evaluate outcomes of research.
  • A proven ability in writing scientific papers and evidence of publication of research in peer reviewed journals.
