Wellbeing Counsellor

Edge Hill University - Student Services

Make a difference, every day, to the lives of our students.

About You

With significant experience in the field of mental health, you will have a high level of clinical expertise. Your excellent interpersonal skills, calm and resilient approach and your positive and enthusiastic outlook will be invaluable.

A degree or an equivalent professional qualification, along with a diploma in counselling is essential. Your flexible approach and rich experience of working innovatively will set you apart.

About the Role

You will be joining the team in a new role that will play a key part in the integration of Counselling & Wellbeing Services, working together in supporting students to succeed.

Working across both the Wellbeing Service and the Counselling Service, you will provide short term counselling to staff and students and a mixture of both reactive and proactive support to students on issues related to mental health and wellbeing.

Responding to crisis situations as well as managing a case load of student clients, this role will provide support advice and guidance to some of our students who are most in need. In addition to the support of individual students, you will be involved in activities, events and developing new technologies to improve the wellbeing of all students across the University.

We want you to feel happy when you come to work and proud when you go home.

From the moment you join us you have the opportunity to enhance your skills. We offer a range of specialist development sessions or courses and an award winning staff health & wellbeing programme (HR Excellence Awards 2017). This means as well as opportunities to attend interactive sessions like ‘Presenting with impact’ or ‘Preparing for progression & success’ you are able to have a lunchtime stroll across our beautiful campus, book to get a trim from our onsite hairdresser, your car valeted, or get together with colleagues over free food and drink to watch the latest film on one of our Film Nights and so much more.

This is just a taste of what we are able to offer you at Edge Hill University.
