An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic candidate to join a team of research development professionals supporting the College of Medical and Dental Sciences further develop and grow its research portfolio through successful research grants. The post of Research Facilitator offers an excellent opportunity for developing professional to make a significant impact on research development and support at the University of Birmingham.

Educated with at least an honours degree in a discipline clearly related to the College’s core areas of academic activity, you will work within a team supporting research development across the College, with a particular focus on our new Institute of Clinical Sciences. The post will proactively identify new funding opportunities and assist with research proposal development, contributing to wider strategic discussions to help prioritise and align activity to the wider College and University strategies for Life Sciences research.

The ideal applicant will be a highly self-motivated, with a strong commitment to customer service and enthusiasm for working both individually and as part of a collaborative wider team to support the delivery of ambitious targets for research funding capture in the College. The role offers significant opportunities for personal and professional development, and whilst a track record of experience in research management within higher education and particularly clinical/biomedical sciences is beneficial, we would also welcome interest from candidates transitioning from scientific careers.

As part of the College’s Research Development Team as well as the wider Research & Innovation Services infrastructure, you will be part of a vibrant community of research support professionals both in the College, as part of a larger Research & Knowledge Transfer Office, and across the University. Along with your team, you will be physically based in the College, ensuring a balance between local delivery to the academics in the College and integration with the wider research support ecosystem across the University.
