The Faculty of Business Law and Social Sciences at Birmingham City University is seeking an exceptional candidate to lead our School of Law in the next phase of its development. Whilst the future for legal education may be in flux, demand from potential students is buoyant, with application numbers growing year on year. The School is located on our modern city centre campus, where the university has invested over £250 Million in the last few years. Our latest building opens in January 2018, heralding a major extension to the Curzon building, which is where the School is based.

The School of Law at Birmingham City University is a thriving academic community, with a strong track record of delivering excellent legal education at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional levels. Our location on our city centre campus in Birmingham’s Eastside, the city’s knowledge quarter, places us firmly at the heart of the city, and close to the legal and social constituencies with whom we work closely. We continue to grow in popularity, with increasing numbers of applicants wishing to study our programmes. We are passionate about our teaching, and put students firmly at the heart of all our activities. We embrace a practice led, knowledge based approach to our teaching, which is research informed.

You will be expected to bring academic leadership, as a well as an excellent track record of achievement in a specific area of law. You will also be expected to show leadership in further enhancing the profile of the School, regionally, and beyond. The title of Professor may be available to a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.
