Salary: Grade 8
£39,992 - £47,722 per annum. Potential to progress to £53,691 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Lead to join our Composite Centre team at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

We are looking for an individual who will contribute to the research objectives of the team, through delivery of a number of concurrent industrially-focused world-leading research and development projects as part of a team of researchers in an exciting and dynamic environment. The role will include the overall planning of projects and resources, team leadership, regular communication with customers and partners, delivery of projects to timescales and technical problem solving. You will be able to communicate effectively with industrial customers and partners and effectively sell the centre’s capabilities. The projects undertaken frequently involve overseas partners. Consequently, there may be opportunities for travel across mainland Europe, the USA, Japan and South Korea.

You will have:

  • a PhD, either in a relevant field or with experience working in this area
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • the ability to solve problems creatively
  • good knowledge of aerospace composite engineering or manufacturing with a proven track record in the field.

The Composite Centre team focuses on producing and machining composite components, including hybrid parts combining high-performance metals and composites in a single structure. These structures can provide significant weight savings while maintaining the highest material and structural performance, offering improved fuel efficiency for aerospace and other transport applications.
