Heriot-Watt University - Centre for Energy Economics Research and Policy (CEERP)

Applications are invited for a fixed term Research Associate post to work as part of the Centre for Energy Economics Research and Policy for up to 3 years. Appointed individuals’ main responsibility will involve research, but some teaching-related duties may also be required in relevant fields. 

The appointed individuals will carry out and support research at CEERP in the areas including but not limited to energy economics, petroleum economics, and policy-making as well as broader research in the fields of empirical economics and econometrics. An important part of successful candidates’ responsibilities will be working closely with members of BP Group Economics team based in London and Washington DC as well as colleagues within CEERP on the Statistical Review of World Energy and Energy Outlook.

The appointees may also support the delivery of appropriate courses within the Institute or the Centre itself. The appointees will work with existing learning and teaching materials but will be expected to play a role in the updating and enhancement of these, supporting the ongoing efforts of the current course leader. One of the requirements of the posts will be to produce high-quality teaching materials in specified areas, and to adapt existing teaching materials and create new resources for both undergraduate and postgraduate level teaching. The roles will also involve marking student assessments, creating tests, online resources, and assignments.

As the Centre grows and other appointments are made, each role-holder’s responsibilities may evolve and involve various new tasks or no longer include certain duties as agreed by the individual, their Line Manager, and other appropriate individuals, such as the Programme Director of the relevant discipline.

A PhD degree in Economics, Energy Economics or other relevant field.

The position is available for three years.
