Temporary Cover for up to 12 weeks

We seek an experienced and self-motivated individual to temporarily cover the post of Marketing & Communications Officer for a period of 12 weeks. The aim of the role is to assist the Marketing Managers in the implementation of robust and comprehensive marketing and communications plans that maximise student recruitment and promote and enhance the national and international profile of the University of Dundee, through close working with its constituent Schools and Directorates.

Proactive by nature, the post holder will be expected to seek out a regular flow of news, research developments, innovations and creative endeavours in order to communicate these through internal and external channels, particularly the website and other digital media. The post holder is expected to work closely with both academic and administrative staff within the Schools, and are therefore expected to spend a significant amount of time working in the Schools.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Degree level qualification in Marketing, Communications, or other literate-related subject(s)
  • Strong IT/digital media skills including experience using website content management systems (CMS), databases, social media.
  • Experience of setting up paid digital campaigns.
  • Experience of copy-writing for print and digital.
  • Excellent writing skills including the ability to produce clear, concise copy in accessible English with excellent attention to detail, grammatical competence and proof reading skills.
  • Experience of editing and proof reading, demonstrating close attention to detail and the ability to adhere to writing and formatting style guides.

Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Essential

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write, edit, proof read and prepare copy.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex information.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, managing several projects/activities concurrently, whilst maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Ability to plan and organise under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Proven skills at building positive relationships throughout the customer journey.
  • Ability to undertake research and the collection, management and interpretation of data.
  • Ability to plan and organise events.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation, both academic and administrative, as well as external bodies.
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude to work.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as part of a team and independently.

Contract Information

  • Temporary cover from 29th January to 20th April, 2018.
