Research Technician

Applications are invited for a fixed-term position of Research Technician (Protein) in the Laboratory of Professor Nick Le Brun in the School of Chemistry at the University of East Anglia. The post-holder will support the work of post-doctoral research associates investigating mechanistic and structural features of iron-containing proteins. Duties will involve protein purification and basic biochemical and spectroscopic analysis of protein samples. The post-holder will also be responsible for stocks of consumables, autoclaving of waste, routine maintenance of instruments/equipment and dealing with instrument maintenance contract providers. They will be required to be familiar with laboratory safety regulations and to keep careful records of their work. 

You should have a degree in biochemistry, biological chemistry, chemistry or related subject or equivalent level of qualification. In addition, you should be able to satisfy all the essential criteria detailed in the person specification for this post.

This post is available from 1 February 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter on a part-time (0.6fte), fixed term basis until 30 September 2020. 

The University is a Bronze Athena Swan Award holder, currently working towards Silver.
