Postdoctoral Research Associate

The role

The Business School wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to participate in a large EU Interreg project. The post will focus on the business model innovation component of the project and will require empirical work to understand the experiences of visitors to cultural heritage sites. The project, entitled Visitor experience Innovation through Systematic Text Analytics and Augmented Reality (VISTA AR), is comprised of eight partners situated in both France and England. The project aims to support business model innovation through advanced tools to develop Augmented Reality (AR) interpretations of cultural heritage assets. The successful applicant will lead the business model and visitor experience component of the project. These models will be implemented, in close collaboration with technology partners, using (AR) digital technologies. A key part of this project is the articulation and derivation of visitor (customer) experiences using Text Analytic, Natural Language Processing (NLP), tools. The successful candidate will work closely with experts in NLP.

The post will require thought leadership in Business Model Innovation and customer experience and the ability to lead the BMI component of the project.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to develop rigorous research designs to achieve project objectives and to build a body of evidence. The dissemination of written research results for both practitioner and academic communities is essential. Successful candidates will be required to publish research results in academic journals. The ability to make engaging presentations, and to communicate effectively, is required. In addition to Business Model Innovation work, candidates will be required to contribute to PhD supervision in the area.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or equivalent qualification in Business Model Innovation and/or customer experience or a related field of study. The successful applicant will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to advance intellectual thought and practice. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively.

Applicants must be able to: undertake rigorous research design; engage in data collection and advanced analysis; formulate high quality practitioner and academic outputs. This post will also require attendance at meetings and events in both France and England.
