Project Co-ordinator

University of Bradford - Faculty of Life Sciences - School of Optometry and Vision Science

Contract Type: Fixed Term contract until 30 September 2021

Interview Date: Monday 15 January 2018

The University of Bradford wishes to appoint a Project Administrator to work under the supervision of Professor Marina Bloj. The post has become available due to the recent award made by the European Commission to support a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action - Innovative Training Network (MSCA-ITN/ETN), which is co-ordinated by the University of Bradford.

The MSCA-ITN/ETN “DyViTo: Dynamics in Vision and Touch – the look and feel of stuff” is diverse and intersectoral from conception. We bring together researchers and innovators from nine different Universities, two Museums and four companies across Europe that have together developed an innovative research and training plan with a strong commitment to gender equality and other aspects of Responsible Research and Innovation.

The DyViTo members are experts from diverse areas such as psychology, computer graphics, neuroscience, industrial design and public outreach which enable the network to have impact in basic research, technology and creative industries, as well as for engaging the general public.

Real world tasks as diverse as drinking tea or operating machines require us to integrate information across time and the senses.  Understanding how we perform dynamic, multisensory integration is a key challenge with important applications in digital and virtual environments. Our goal is to produce a step change in the industrial challenge of creating virtual objects that look, feel, move and change like ‘the real thing’.

Our integrated training will produce a cohort of young researchers who are able to translate between the fundamental neuro-cognitive mechanisms of object and material perception and diverse applications in virtual reality.

Please include with your application a CV where you highlight how your past roles have provided you with the skills, experience and knowledge that we are looking for. Refer to the the essential and desirables listed in the post specification.

Further information about the project is available on our website available https://dyvito.wordpress.com and informal enquiries prior to application can be made to Professor Marina Bloj, Project Director on 01274 236258 or email: M.Bloj@bradford.ac.uk

Correspondence regarding your application for this role including invitations to interview will be sent via email. Please check your Spam/Junk email folder in case these have been delivered there instead of your inbox.

The University of Bradford strives to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
