The Doha Institute for Graduate Study (DI) seeks applications for a faculty position for our new Masters of Social Work Program (MSW), which started its first cohort in fall 2017. We seek social work educators with specialization in community development and clinical social work practice.

Founded in 2014 in Doha, Qatar, the DI is a non-profit, independent institute for learning and research in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration, and Development Economics. It is operated exclusively for educational, research, and public service purposes. The DI is licensed as a national institution of higher education by the Supreme Education Council of Qatar.

The mission of the MSW program is “to educate, train, and empower a new generation of professional social work practitioners and researchers, who are prepared to empower and to meet the human needs of people in Qatar, the region, and the Arab World, and enhance their quality of life and well-being, with specific attention to those who are poor, vulnerable, and oppressed.”

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have earned a PhD in social work or related field; MSW degree from an accredited social work institution; ideally five years' post-MSW social work practice; ideally five years of teaching graduate-level MSW courses; and demonstrated ability to offer services in diverse communities. Applicants must demonstrate ability to conduct research and publish scholarly work in refereed peer-review journals. Also must demonstrate evidence of strong research background and significant publications in refereed peer-review journals.


The successful candidates should be able to teach in a minimum of two substantive areas: social work practice, social work policy, as well as more specialized courses in clinical social work practice, mental health practice, and displaced populations. Candidates also should serve in intra and enter disciplinary teaching, research, and related activities including academic advisement, field education instructions, and supervision of students’ capstone projects.
