The Research Department requires a professional administrator to support the Winton Research Department in London. The hire should be an experienced administration professional, at ease with supporting a complex and demanding research schedule. The hire will be responsible for managing the academic engagement effort of the research department and should ideally have a scientific background (first-class degree in a mathematical or scientific discipline). The hire will be proficient in the use of SharePoint and will be responsible for managing research content housed in various SharePoint sites. The role will include some project support and support work for the Head of Research Administration and senior research personnel.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Managing a large, complex schedule of research meetings
  • Overseeing academic engagement
  • Booking travel and accommodation for all members of the department
  • Electronic filing, document management and version control (SharePoint)
  • Servicing meetings including preparation of papers, minute taking, chasing on action points
  • Project support for the Head of Research Administration including updating and maintaining project plans
  • General administration duties

Person Specification

  • Some administrative support experience preferable, ideally gained in a scientific, commercial or research environment
  • Degree level education (ideally in a mathematical or scientific subject area)
  • Experience with document management technologies (e.g. SharePoint)
  • Experience of supporting senior staff
  • Experience of servicing high level committees
  • Experience with a range of technologies and software related to administration support
  • A flexible attitude and creative approach to administration
