Medical Secretary

University Health Service is an NHS GP practice which supports the health needs of the students of The University of Sheffield and their dependents.

We are now looking to recruit an experienced Medical Secretary, preferably with experience in general practice, to join our team. The contract is 21 hours, fixed term for one year, to cover maternity leave.

The Medical Secretary team provides full administrative and secretarial support to clinical staff, utilising specific knowledge of medical terminology, general practice, secondary and community care services, and university procedures. 

Additionally, the post holder will deal with enquiries from university departments, patients and their carers and/or relatives, other healthcare providers, and will provide support to the management team with purchase and recruitment systems, as well as other adhoc duties commensurate to the post.

You will have good keyboard skills, a working knowledge of medical terminology, and have a firm understanding of the principals of data protection and patient data confidentiality. Having a professional approach and positive outlook, you will work closely with the doctors and other team members to deliver an excellent service to our patients.
