The AMRC’s Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG), based at Factory 2050, is looking for an Assistant Workshop Technician to join their team.

The Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG) has grown over the last ten years and is expanding further to meet demand from new projects. You will work on projects for partner companies, including BAE Systems, Airbus and Boeing and on grant-funded research projects (for example EPSRC, TSB, Horizon 2020).

The AMRC has secured funding through the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) for several multi-million pound projects involving major aerospace manufacturers such as Airbus, BAE Systems, Spirit Aerosystems, GE, GKN and Bombardier. This means you will have significant interaction with both customers and suppliers, supporting a multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure projects are completed. The role will involve the use number of a number of mechanical skills; machining, welding, electronics, pneumatics, as well as shop floor installs.

You will:

  • Hold a relevant qualification (NVQ level 3) or relevant practical experience
  • Be capable of working alone or in a group to solve engineering problems
  • Maintain high shop floor standards and provide high quality parts as required by the engineering team
  • Have CAD skills, mechanical design skills and a general appreciation of mechanical and electrical engineering.

Although the role encompasses a number of desired skills, training and staff development is a high priority.
