Salary: Grade 8 (Lecturer): £39,992 - £47,722 per annum with potential to progress to £53,691 through sustained exceptional contribution. Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer/Reader): £50,618 - £56,950 per annum with potential to progress to £65,997 per annum through sustained exceptional contibution.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Chair and Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader post in Testing at the University of Sheffield. Working in the Department of Computer Science, you will join our internationally respected Verification & Testing Group.

The Department of Computer Science is embarking on an ambitious growth strategy following our strong performance in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, in which we were ranked 5th out of 89 computer science departments in the UK.

Our Testing Research Group is one of the largest groups of its kind in the UK, developing innovative approaches to software testing and quality assurance. Drawing equally on theory and practice, its research mission is to apply developments from theoretical computer science to practical software engineering solutions for industry. To drive our research agenda in testing forward, we are now seeking to make an appointment at Chair level, together with Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Reader level.

You will conduct research to the highest standards. This will include securing research funding, publishing in high impact journals, supervision of research students and assisting on research project management.

You will hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related area. As a teacher, you will play a key role in maintaining our reputation for high-quality teaching by designing, delivering and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes in machine learning and other topics in computer science.
