Services include generic research; contract R&D; technical information; engineering services and advice; standards development; and training and qualification services.

The Applied Mechanics Team in the NDT Section is expanding due to significant and sustained order growth, therefore, we are seeking two talented individuals to enter this fast-moving environment to underpin and drive our technical excellence and expanding market share.

Job Description:

The Project Leader will contribute to industrial focused multidisciplinary R&D work encompassing applied mechanics, optical engineering, digital image processing, mechatronics, biomechanics and biomechanical engineering.  You will enjoy responsibility for and rapidly gain experience in these areas and strengthen the core skills of an exciting and innovative team.

Duties Include:

  • Project management, preparation and negotiation of contract proposals
  • Laboratory experiments and preparation of reports
  • Developing new products and services for the design, testing and inspection of engineering components as well as biomedical applications in healthcare
  • Mentoring, guidance and support to NSIRC postgraduate industrial research projects
  • Participation at technology advisory panels relating to structural integrity for NSIRC

Skills Include:

  • Good team and networking abilities, initiative and self-motivation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent technical and academic background
  • Demonstrable knowledge in applied mechanics or biomedical engineering is required
  • Specific knowledge of optical engineering, mechatronics, and biomechanics or sensor techniques would be preferred.

This role requires regular travel within the UK and occasionally overseas according to the demands of project work.

Permanent, Full Time, 36 hours p/wk
