Recreational Assistant

University of Cambridge - University Sports Service - Centre

The Sports Service is seeking to appoint a Recreation Assistant to work on an ad hoc/hourly paid basis across the University Sports Facilities.

The role holder will ensure that University Sports facilities are opened and closed at the correct time, and are clean and tidy for use. They will provide assistance to users, Grounds Maintenance or Sports Centre staff in setting up the facilities for training, matches and events that take place during the afternoons, evenings and weekends.

The role holder will also receive any incoming telephone calls, provide information to students and other users of the facilities, and contact the emergency services if required. They will also undertake basic cleaning tasks within the facilities including changing rooms, toilets and corridor spaces as required, and remove rubbish from the external grounds and internal sporting spaces.

Applicants should have the ability to learn and develop skills on the job, good time management, communication and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure. A current first aid qualification would be desirable. Knowledge of Health and Safety related to Sports Ground activities would be an advantage but appropriate training will be given, working hours will be ad hoc in nature and dependent on facility bookings, which vary throughout the year.
