Public Relations Manager (Humanities and Social Sciences)

Based in the Public Relations (PR) team at our Mile End campus, this post is responsible for delivering a strong public profile for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and its eight Schools.

As a media relations specialist, you will have strong newsgathering skills and excellent contacts among social affairs, politics, history, economics and law journalists and national news editors across print, online and broadcast media.

The ability to write compelling copy for different audiences is a must, as is experience of creating digital content and using social media to build engagement.

You will have strong inter-personal and presentation skills, and will be confident dealing with senior management and academics at all levels.

In addition to communicating the Faculty’s strengths and innovation in research, teaching and public engagement, this role also provides strategic support to manage the university’s reputation. This includes implementing PR strategies, evaluating and reporting on PR campaigns and acting as advisor to academics and senior management on reputation management.

The post is full time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of February 2018. Starting salary will be in the range of £45,577 – £49,496 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
