Research Fellow

University of Southampton - Population, Health & Wellbeing

Applications are invited for a Researcher on a two-year ESRC-funded project, ‘Reclaiming social care: Adults with learning disabilities seizing opportunities in the shift from day services to community lives’. The project will investigate how people with learning disabilities in the UK are remaking care and support, in the context of reduced day service provision. There is anecdotal evidence of the emergence of innovative peer-led ‘self-build’ networks and sites, providing new opportunities for social inclusion for people with learning disabilities, and their families and supporters. However, little is known about their extent and activities. The project will, for first time, examine these networks in detail including the informal learning involved.
