Warwick Law School wishes to recruit two Professors or Readers to contribute to its distinctive internationalist and ‘law in context’ approach to legal scholarship. The successful candidates will have an outstanding record of publications, a continuing commitment to excellence in teaching in any field of legal study, and be able to demonstrate strong academic leadership.

Founded in 1968, Warwick Law School is proud of its distinctive ‘law in context’ philosophy. Our pluralist approach embraces interdisciplinary, international, comparative, theoretical, historical, and cross-cultural approaches.

Within the School there are eight research clusters in Contract, Business and Commercial Law, Law and Humanities, Comparative Law and Culture, Legal Theory, Gender and the Law, Governance and Regulation, Development and Human Rights, and International and European Law. We also have three Research Centres in Criminal Justice, Human Rights in Practice, and Law, Regulation and Governance of the Global Economy, and are part of four cross-disciplinary Centres for Operational Policing Research, for Social Theory, for Ethics, Law and Public Affairs, and for Research on Employment and Work. We also take a leading role in Warwick’s Global Research Priority in International Development.

The School was ranked 10th overall in REF 2014, coming 6th for research environment and 7th for the quality of its published research. The quality of our teaching has also been recognised with two National Teaching Fellowships and a number of Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence. We offer a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and emphasise the importance of good quality teaching within a broad and imaginative curriculum.
