MRC Harwell - The Research Complex at Harwell (RCaH)

The Research Complex at Harwell (RCaH) is a multidisciplinary research laboratory, adjacent to the Diamond Light Source, ISIS neutron source, and other major facilities on the Harwell Oxford site.  It is a joint initiative of the research councils and Diamond Light Source, and managed by the Medical Research Council (MRC) on behalf of the other partners. RCaH houses top research teams from all over the UK, working in both the physical and life sciences.  The Electron Microscopy technician post is part of a wider initiative to develop electron microscopy (EM), and other imaging technologies, at Harwell Oxford. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will support the use of the Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and equipment for the TEM /SEM sample preparation.  You should have experience with TEM and/or SEM instruments; interest in the EM field, a desire to follow up the latest technical developments and experience in implementing good Health and Safety laboratory practices.  You should be well motivated, have strong problem-solving, team working and communication skills with the ability to relate to and communicate with non-expert users about EM issues.
