Lecturer (Scholarship) in Healthcare Education

The post is designed for individuals who have a keen interest in teaching for healthcare professionals and who wish to pursue a career with an emphasis on education and training. The main focus of the post is on postgraduate education for healthcare professionals but there are opportunities for involvement in all aspects of medical and dental undergraduate education, including strategic planning and research. You will lead the development and delivery of MSc programmes for healthcare professionals wishing to develop their clinical practice and career opportunities. The main responsibility will be for a new MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice starting in September 2018 involving online and blended learning modes and designed to fulfil the requirements of Advanced Nurse Practitioner roles or the equivalent for other healthcare professionals. You will divide your time between teaching, curriculum management educational research and development. 

You will join the Institute of Education for Medical and Dental Sciences as one of a vibrant team of academic, administrative and clerical staff who support the undergraduate medical degree programmes and the Masters in Physician Associate Studies and in Clinical Education. The Institute also leads and supports the educational governance systems in the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition. You will be located with colleagues in the Centre for Healthcare Education Research and Innovation that is dedicated to healthcare education and research and provides a home for our postgraduate educational programmes. The post is based in the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition on the Foresterhill campus, Aberdeen.

Applications are invited from healthcare practitioners from any relevant background including nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or related discipline who have a keen interest in clinical education. Recent experience or knowledge of teaching in an NHS setting is essential. A PhD or other qualification in education is desirable. 

Salary will be based on skills and relevant experience. This post will be on Grade 7 (£39,992 to £47,722 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
