2x Medical Receptionist (Maternity Cover)

University of Sheffield - Professional Services - University Health Service

Contract Type: 12 Months Fixed-term until January 2019 (to cover maternity leave)
Working Pattern: Part-time: 18 hours over 3 days per week (Mon, Tues & Wed or Fri)

We have an exciting opportunity at the University Health Service for someone with a passion for customer service, looking to use their skills in patient care to help support students at the University of Sheffield.

The University Health Service is one of only two NHS practices in the U.K. to be fully integrated into a University. Our patient population of c34,000 is made up of students of the University of Sheffield, with approximately 35% of patients from International communities, and a small number of dependants.

Located in a bright and airy purpose-built building situated on campus, we are proud to provide a tailored service to our patients, and are committed to providing high quality care.

A member of our reception team will shortly be taking maternity leave, so we are looking for an enthusiastic receptionist to join us. You will have previous experience working in a customer service role and preferably experience of working in a primary care/general practice setting.

You will be a key part of the practice reception team and assist with the smooth running of the Practice. Duties include:

  • Dealing with telephone, email and face to face enquiries.
  • Make patient appointments, booking patients into the most appropriate clinic/service.
  • Deal efficiently with all incoming mail (electronic, internal, hospital and letters), ensuring that documents are correctly coded into the patient records.
  • Update the GP system with new registrations and deductions.

If you think that you would be excited to be part of a team that works hard to improve the way that we work in order to deliver the best possible service to our patients, then the next step is to view the supporting documentation by clicking on the About the Job and About the University located near the top of your screen.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
