Research Associate In Biostatistics

The post is funded through the EPSRC grant, grant number EP/N014499/1. You will be a highly skilled and enthusiastic individual in statistics and applied and computational mathematics to join the National EPSRC Centre for Mathematical Sciences in Healthcare and take up the post funded by the EPSRC grant, based in the new Maths Centre in the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Liverpool. The research work will involve interdisciplinary collaborations with leading research groups in the University of Liverpool and clinical partners.

You should have a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science and have expertise in at least one of the following research areas: longitudinal and joint data modelling, multivariate modelling as well as numerical analysis and scientific programming. You will work under the supervision of the team including: Dr. Marta García-Fiñana (Biostatistics), Dr. Ruwanthi Kolamunnage-Donna (Biostatistics), Dr Gabriella Czanner (Eye and Vision) and Dr. David Martin (Physics), and external industrial and clinical partners.

You will be based in the Department of Biostatistics of the University of Liverpool and in the new EPSRC Centre ( You will have excellent theoretical background in statistics and/or exceptional computational modelling skills. Knowledge of physical models, imaging and biology in healthcare is an advantage.

You must display clear evidence originality in research and have a good publication record. You will be expected to work effectively as a member of the research team, have the ability to develop and apply new concepts, and have a creative approach to problem-solving. You will also be expected to participate in all Centre activities, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to write clearly and succinctly for publication.  The post is available until 30 November 2019.
