This post will be offered on a full time fixed-term contract for 1 year. The post is open to a job share.

Applications are invited for the above post in the Division of Respiratory Medicine, University of Nottingham, based at the City Hospital Campus. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers with a strong track record in the molecular and cell biological pathways involved in the pathogenesis of lung disease.

This new post will provide technical assistance to Prof Jenkins and Prof Lim, and supervise/train/advise other laboratory staff and students. They will plan and oversee own experiments and to ensure that all consumables and equipment are available to ensure objectives are met. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and also as part of a team.

The work with Prof Lim is the field of acute respiratory infectious diseases with opportunities to be involved in the development and application of new diagnostic technologies. In particular, the post-holder will work with other members of his research team to provide support towards a pneumonia cohort study that is currently in its 10th year.

Prof Jenkins' team consists of eight researchers who investigate various aspects of TGF-B and integrin activation in the pathogenesis of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

This varied post will utilise a variety of cellular and molecular techniques, and experience in a similar setting will be an advantage. In particular, ELISA and multiplex assays will be highly utilised. Additionally experience and understanding of the regulations and procedure governing husbandry, welfare assessment and breeding of a range of laboratory animal species would be desirable, but not essential to this role.
