Mainstream Learning Support Assistants (Truro)

Positions available on a full time; part time (minimum 3 days); fixed term (until July 2018) basis

The successful applicants will support students who experience learning difficulties and/or disabilities following both vocational and AS/A2 Level programmes (mainstream).

Applicants will require a level 2 qualification or equivalent in Maths and English. Previous experience in a similar environment desirable but not essential. Previous applicants will be carried forward.

The post holder will:

  • Support students in all aspects of college life either in small groups or on 1:1.
  • Promote independent learning.
  • Enable students equal access to lessons.
  • Promote and facilitate inclusive practice.
  • Support students to achieve individual targets.
  • Liaise with teaching staff to ensure student access to lessons and feedback on student progress.
  • Assist student in the use of special classroom equipment and teaching aids as required.
  • Assist on any excursions or extra-curricular activities, these may also be residential.
  • Assist as necessary with all aspects of students’ personal needs, ranging from help with transport to toileting requirements.
  • Help with students’ personal hygiene and undertake any necessary cleaning.
  • Undergo any training deemed necessary.
  • Attend departmental meetings.
  • Be flexible and prepared to change routines at short notice.

The College is registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service and the successful applicant will be required to apply for a Disclosure at the enhanced level.
