You will form part of a team of clinical researchers looking into swallowing physiology and neurogenic dysphagia using novel neurostimulation techniques and physiological measurements. This work will focus on the development and implementation of a number of clinical studies and trials evaluating the physiological and therapeutic role of various forms of brain stimulation in neurogenic dysphagia patients (e.g. stroke, Parkinson’s Disease).

You will be expected to help conduct the studies and recruit patients for the various trials. Specifically you will be involved in the delivery of neurostimulation and collection of clinical data for patients, the assessment of swallowing including performing clinical swallowing assessments in patients, and management of various trials. In addition you may be involved in videofluoroscopy/imaging analysis. You will also help to analyse data and provide reports of data acquired and present work progress to the team.

Training will be provided in the neurostimulation techniques, and in image analysis. There will also be opportunity to get training in videofluoroscopy and other clinical swallowing assessment techniques.

You will be a research associate with relevant neurophysiological experience, preferably including experience with neurologic patients and healthy subjects. We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and time management skills. You will need to demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary research environment. Some experience in whole human neurophysiological/brain imaging research and/or a higher research degree is particularly welcomed.

Posts are available on a fixed term full time basis. Appointments will be for a maximum period of 2 years.
