This is an opportunity to lead a growing team of academic staff with strong professional backgrounds and research interests who deliver a suite of successful journalism programmes.

Currently these are BA Journalism, BA Media & Journalism, BA Journalism & PR, MA Journalism, MA Radio Docs and MA VR.

The appointee will be an outstanding manager and a team player with strong track record in academic leadership.

You will have an in-depth understanding of the delivery of 21st century journalism in its many guises and be ambitious to develop our teaching offer and research profile.

We expect outstanding learning outcomes for our students, close liaison with industry and accreditation bodies and continuing innovation in teaching. You will play a strategic role in delivering this for the cluster.

In addition you will also play a leading role in the School of Film & Journalism, and represent it in the faculty of Arts, Creative Industries and Education and across the university and the wider community.

You will have:

  • Academic management experience
  • Expertise in the field of Journalism within Industry and academia.
  • Excellent knowledge of Bristol and experience of working with our media partners
  • Journalism teaching experience at undergraduate and masters level.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects. Through a combination of University sites and partnerships with creative and cultural organisations in the city, we have developed a network of cultural and creative spaces. These enable our students and staff to develop their professional practice in inspiring learning environments as well as provide opportunities for creative collaboration and networking.
