University Lecturer/University Senior Lecturer in Computer Security

The University of Cambridge would like to recruit a new faculty member in the broad area of computer security. This includes both defensive and adversarial aspects of "cybersecurity": communication security, privacy, and censorship resistance; hardware, software, systems, and operational security; the security of programming languages and applications; the science of cybersecurity; and the psychological, economic, criminological, and policy aspects of cybersecurity.

Exceptional candidates from any area of computer science, or those with a strong intersection with the field of computer science, are also encouraged to apply.

It is likely that successful candidates will already have a strong track record in one or more relevant research areas and already have some postdoctoral or industrial experience. Ideally the candidate will also have experience of teaching and of generating research grant or contract income.

The position will require teaching within undergraduate and masters computer-science curricula.

The post will be at the level of University Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) and will be based in the Department of Computer Science and Technology (The Computer Laboratory). The salary for a University Lecturer will be £39,992 - £50,618. Those with appropriate experience in their current role may be appointed to a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Associate Professor) at grade 10, for which the salary will be £53,691 - £56,950.
